MF - Johnson, Beckerman, Morales, Cox;
FW - Escalada, Movsisyan
D.C. United’s lineup is as follows:

MF - Clyde Simms, Fred Carreiro, Santino Quaranta, Ben Olsen;
FW - Francis Doe, Luciano Emilio
For the full match details, take the jump…
10 minutes in, looks like D.C. is about to make a GK sub - Nic Platter in for Crayton
UPDATE: Crayton out with a strained left quad
17′ - Beckerman skies a 20-yard offering over the bar after nice combination play with Javi, Will Johnson and Yura Movsisyan
19′ - United’s Clyde Simms sends a low, hard shot just wide of the left post past a diving Chris Seitz; RSL has controlled most of the action so far, but passing is far from crisp on the bumpy Blackbaud Stadium pitch; Horst, Olave and Wingert squelching D.C. chances before they develop
22′ - Raphael Cox carries it deep into the left corner, laying it in to Luis Miguel Escalada, who is betrayed by his first touch
24′ - YELLOW CARD: RSL Captain Kyle Beckerman booked for a late charge in the center circle, taking down Namoff in a scrum
26′ - after Yura is fouled 40 yards from goal after receiving a shot to the back of the head from United debutant Greg Janicki, Olave is whistled for a foul after colliding with United’s backup ‘keeper Platter pursuing Morales’ free kick offering
31′ - Wingert gets knocked in his right knee on the sideline in front of the United bench, delaying the game
32′ - before Wingert can get back on the field, a United breakaway sees Emilio onside and in alone on Horst, who forces the play over to Fred, who shanks the 15-yard shot wide left
33′ - on the shot, Fred pulls up lame, straining his right hamstring; #13 Chris Pontius enters the game (FYI - unlimited subs in the Carolina Challenge Cup!)
35′ - RED CARD! D.C. United defender Dejan Jakovic ejected after taking Wingert out just yards from his previous injury
FYI - United will play a man down for the remainder of the game, a departure from past iterations of the tourney, where 1st half red cards are “vacated” at halftime, with the offending team returning to full strength; also, Jakovic WILL be eligible for Wednesday’s game vs. Toronto
39′ - Movsisyan creating space for himself and unleashing a heavy ball from the corner of the box, parried wide for an RSL corner; Horst nearly gets his head on the ensuing corner, but the United ‘keeper grabs the cross
44′ - Beckerman plays it to Movsisyan at the top of the box, but Escalada wasn’t expecting the unlocking pass
HALFTIME - RSL 0:0 D.C.
HALFTIME SUBS (RSL) - Rimando IN, Seitz OUT
HALFTIME SUBS (DCU) - Ange N’Silu IN, Doe OUT; Domenic Mediate IN, Bryan Namoff OUT
47′ - hard work by Yura to create another free kick chance; Morales plays it square to Beckerman, whose 30-yard laser is snared by the United ‘keeper
49′ - RSL GOAL! Cox gets down the left side and rips a cross near post to Escalada, who heads it across face of goal and just inside the right post; RSL 1:0 DC
52′ - Centerback David Horst collects the ball at the top of his box and goes on one of his patented 70-yard runs, eventually playing wide to Escalada, who returns the favor; Horst’s shot from the top of the 18 is blocked, collected by Morales and flicked wide to Escalada, who shoots wide right
57′ - Yura down on the pitch again, battered down on the near sideline; Will Johnson’s inswinger headed out, back to Yura, whose pinpoint cross finds Olave, who crushed a United defender as he tries to get his head on the cross
63′ - not a lot happening, until the return of DCU midfielder Christian Gomez to the pitch against an MLS opponent, replacing Ben Olsen
65′ - Beltran streaking down the right side, sprung by a nice ball over-the-top by Beckerman; Beltran’s cross into Johnson is broken up by Quaranta, who is hurt on the play
66′ - DCU Sub: #22 Rodney Wallace in for Quaranta
69′ - Cox runs onto a muffed ball by the DC ‘keeper, but his shot from 12 yards out hits the left post!
70′ - RSL “shift change”: Mathis, Findley, Alexandre, Borchers, Grabavoy and Williams enter the game
Johnson, Olave, Morales, Escalada, Cox, and Beckerman out
71′ - DCU sub: #99 Jaime Moreno in for Emilio
73′ - Moreno nearly ties up the match, but Rimando snares his exquisite pass in the box as the game opens up
74′ - Jean Alexandre, D-II Player of the Year, introduces himself rather roughly to Moreno, MLS’ all-time leading scorer with a hard foul at midfield
76′ - RSL GOAL! Clint Mathis lofts a ball from 35 yards out and finds Yura Movsisyan, who strikes it with the outside of his right foot RSL 2:0 DC
78′ - RSL sub: guest player Michael Osci enters the game for Yura
81′ - DCU sub: Peters and Barkledge in for Burch and Janecki
86′ - Grabavoy looking spry in his RSL debut, getting into the attack nicely on the left side
88′ - Andy Williams thrilling the crowd with his exquisite ball skills in tight space
88′ - RED CARD! United defender Anthony Peters ejected for a “last-man” tackle on RSL’s Osci
89′ - RSL GOAL! on the resultant free kick, RSL’s lone remaining original, Andy Williams, curl a 22-yard free kick into the left upper 90 RSL 3:0 DCU
FINAL: RSL 3:0 DCU

Is this like a regular match with only 3 subs or how many subs do they get?
I am amazed that that there is no coverage of this tournament, how can some local radio station not cover this? What a shame that we have to rely on live blogging but that is better than nothing. So thanks for the efforts
I stand corrected it appears that TFC is streaming video of the matches, you can watch the feed on MLS-Rumors.net
Are there going to be video highlights of the game?
PLEASE find a way!
nevermind figured it out as the game went on but sweet game cant wait for march 28th! anyone else going to seattle for the first match
I know it was against 10 men but its still nice to see a comfortable win.
WOW!!! tell us more about Michael Osc
this sounded like it was a very good game
Well done RSL!!!! Youngsters seem to be doing well..
Thanks for the play-by-play. Any overall analysis or observations?
Sounds like a good, solid performance. I’m with sockernut, I’d like to hear about the standouts and what they did well.
DPBC: Check out the events page on http://www.section26.com
PLEASE PLEASE Video PLEASE!
Nice result!!
how about some more info on new trialists?
Looks like Escalada is looking better, but for a team that has indicated a desire to secure some more talent up front, I hope we will soon see some quality strikers.
If “keepin it real”and there numbers are correct, $150,000 +-is not a exceptable amount of money to be spending on the position that many of us believe is the most needed addition to the future success of the club.
To all you Movsisian haters; “He is way underpaid and still scorong goals”
WTF? Who hates movsisyan???
As a former Yura-hater I am glad to see that his form as continued where it lefted off last year. He did score 8 goals (mainly in the last half) of last year. If he wants that kind of money (which he might get) we would need to see at least 13 in the back of the net next year.
Cool, I know it is still just a preseason game, but it is nice to see some results regardless. I think RSL is gaining more respect in the league everyday.
And ya, I’ll be up there in Seattle.
man i cant wait till the sfc game
Hey f4denz
I need more info on this so called MLS-Rumors.net. I went there and there is nothing about this game or even the Cup there playing for.
Behind the Shield blog
We need video or something. The goals sounded great but you telling us or us seeing it is two totally different things. VIDEO PLEASE!!! There are still more games. If there is no video at all of this game to show then please get some video of the future games.
Yura may have a stellar year. I hope so.
