A Day in the Life - Rocky Mountain Cup-style
Been wondering what the Rocky Mountain Cup does all season? Well, in between a few token appearances at RSL-COL games throughout the year, the Cup lives a surprisingly busy life. Check it out below…

Its too bad we suck. I would feel much better about this video.
I thought the video was fun. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of this kind of stuff.
Is the rocky mountain cup determined solely by points or is goal difference taken into account?
What are the other two trophies on Leo’s mantle?
ANNOUNCEMENT: All RSL fans (21+) are welcome to join the RCB and other supporters at the Republican, a pub located at 917 South State Street, before the match on Saturday. Doors open at 3:00 PM, and we will be riding TRAX as a group to the match.
Bring money for TRAX, and if possible bring cash for the bar–it’ll be easier to get everyone going as a group if we don’t have a bunch of people all trying to tab out at once.
jank2,
It is that great level of support and enthusiasm that the team needs as they are one of six teams battling for the final 2 playoff spots. I am also sure it really motivates the players and front office to perform better.
Shame to mention that a win Saturday and RSL finishes tied with most points in their history, will have scored more goals than any year in their history, and allowed fewer goals than any year in their history and posted more wins. And all of that on a year where the organization knows they underperformed, but hey with people telling them they suck all day and on every post I am sure they are totally motivated to win people like you over.
I know one of the trophies is last years U-17 trophy.
Bohris,
The Rocky Mountain Cup is first decided by total points, then by aggregate goals/goal differential and finally, if still tied, the holders from the previous year retain possession of the cup.
the other two trophies on the mantle are the 2008 U-17 SUM Cup that our team won in Denver and the 2008 U-17 US Club Soccer National Cup that our Arizona team won last year…
Thanks

hey denz, its cool to “do better than they ever had before” when you have a good history… RSL doesnt have one of those.
To be finishing “high” this season just shows how badly ingrained mediocrity is within this organization.
Cool. we scored a lot of goals
Cool. We didnt get scored on too many times
Not cool, we are sitting on the outside of the playoffs (in a league where half the teams get in) and relying on others on the last day to hopefully, by some great miracle, get in…
but yeah, its better than before, right?
RSL HQ,
Thanks for the clarification. I am looking forward to tomorrows game.
F4, It’s not the effort you put in, and its not how well you play. It is the final score that matters in this sport.
Winning on Saturday and being tied for the most points that we have ever had tells you something… We have not made enough progress.
Also, you complain that I am potentially destroying this teams morale by posting negative comments. Professional athletes really shouldn’t be reading forums or soccer blogs. The absolute best stick to their job and ignore opinions and reports.
Then again, if I were Jason Kries, I may be reading the forums for some tips/hints/tricks on how to make the playoffs.
Looking forward to a beautiful game tomorrow night. What an exciting end to the regular season.
I posted the defense of the cup video on a C.Rapids blog. I’m curious whether that will influence the postings by making them more or less negative towards their team.
Go RSL! Keep the Cup! Thanks for a great season!!!!!!!!, so far!!!!!!!!
jank2 & 15 to 32,
I firmly believe in the fan mentality, that is you never give up hope while there remains a chance. Too many people have quit on the team far too early, there is no such thing as a perfect team but I would say making the playoffs in back to back years is a great amount of progress.
It is easy to sit back and doubt, it is easy to be a cynic or critic, but in the end I believe in RSL, I like where the organization is going. If you think players, coaches and staff don’t read the blogs and forums as well as twitter and facebook well then your living in a shell.
It is the snippy comments like “Jason should be reading the forurms for tips” that are really funny. Again it is easy to think you know what the team should do but only one coach has gotten RSL to back to back playoffs. The reality is that Jason has delivered and yet oh so many will still whine and complain. I will just shake his hand and thank him for an exciting season.
Careful with the lid of that thing! So when are we going to start calling it by its real name? The Wasatch Mountains Cup.
