Smiles at Shriners
Behind the Shield and RSL would like to give a huge thanks to the folks at Shriners Hospitals for Children, who today welcomed RSL’s Raphael Cox into the building to visit with kids staying at the Salt Lake City facility. While the kids got a kick out of meeting Cox, the visit was certainly mutually beneficial for the RSL midfielder … as can be seen by the smiles on everyone’s faces in the photos below.
A special thanks goes to Beverly, Mike and Andrea over at Shriners for taking time out of their day to show Rafa around the incredible facility and for introducing him to nearly two dozen children and their families, all of whose attitudes certainly can provide as an inspiration to so many of us during this Holiday season and beyond.

Raphael seems like a great guy, i have consistently been impressed with him. While he is great off the field I think he has some wonderful potential on the field. I hope to see more of him with our qualifications of champions league and La Liga. Thanks again Raphael for representing the team in the way you do. Quality.
He is. I met him in Seattle when he came to the RSL home away from home bar and he was willing to talk to anyone who engaged him (which was everyone).
Nice work Raphael.
Awesome Cox, I am sure you made some fans for life by spending some time with the kids at Shriners. I really RSL should participate in this type of activity as often as they can, because I don’t know if there is a better way to create incredibly loyal fans.
Well, maybe winning the Cup helps too.
GO RSL
I ended up behind Cox and his whole family after one of the fireworks games. They seemed like a really great bunch of people. I’ve been impressed with him on the field and off, and hope he gets more of a chance to contribute this year with our busy schedule.
