GK Tim Melia to RSL’s Preseason Roster
Yesterday Real Salt Lake added defender Rauwshan McKenzie to its pool of perspective hopefuls, and today the Claret-and-Cobalt added another player to its potential ranks by announcing the addition of goalkeeper Tim Melia to its 2010 preseason roster. The 6’1″ netminder spent his first two professional seasons with the Rochester Raging Rhinos of the USL First Division, where he made 14 appearances, all but one of them coming last season in relief of injured starter Scott Vallow. The 23-year-old Melia is certainly familiar with one member of RSL, as he and MF Jean Alexandre crossed paths at Lynn University during the 2007 season (Melia as a senior, Alexandre as a junior), helping the Fighting Knights to a 15-3-1 mark that season. Melia also represented the Long Island Rough Riders during the 2007 summer in USL Premier Development League play.
