Feels like today was a milestone game. Reached the .500 mark for the season, got to first in the Western Conference for the first time in franchise history, AND reached the same win total from last year. However, we cant get ahead of ourselves, the Western Conference is really tight in terms of points and RSL has played one more game than everyone else. Also, we finish the season with 8 of 14 games on the road where we sometimes morph into the 07 version of RSL. Still think we need to get more help up front and hopefully we can beef up our bench and forward position with some signings in the next few weeks. On the bright side, Borchers and Olave and the rest of the D have been shutting teams down. Hopefully RSL can pick up some more momentum for a fun stretch run!
I agree with Beckerman. “Right now’s not the most important time to be in first place — that will be at the end of the year…”, but it does feel good to be there at this point. If we manage to get ourselves a playoff spot I will be very satisfied with this season. A playoff game in the new stadium has been my dream for this season since before it began.
Has anybody here read the messages at ksl.com? Some people need a podium, I guess. As for me, I enjoyed the game last night immensely. It has been so great to see the defense evolve since Eddie Pope retired. How many shutouts now? Six? Last night it felt like even though Robbie and Kenny did not start, when they were substituted in they brought tons of energy with them. It was also great to see Nathan Sturgis back on the field. I am starting to have faith in this team, at home, after the opening home game with Chicago leaving such a bad taste in my mouth. I hope this home stand will give the team the confidence that if they play on the road with the same intensity as at home, they will win. Go RSL, make the playoffs!
Since the beginning of the season Jason and Garth brought all the right players in and it was only a matter of time before they started to gel and play together well! The whole team is stepping up from Tino and Tony all the way to the vets like Andy and Dema! Now they need to start getting some points on the road, but I think with the spot at the top of the tables the team will start playing with more confidence!
It feels amazing, they need to keep it up and get to first place in all of the MLS.
Also, why does the RSL security and staff like to take away the fun section 22 has? Are they afraid that people are going to get paper cuts? or are they worried people are going to lose an eye when we throw a beach ball, why would you throw us out or threaten a fine? While at the Santos game on Wed. the most fun was when the beach ball was flying and all the fans and kids were aiming to hit it. It actually ignited the crowd a bit. Why does the staff come after our section but they are cool if “Official” supports clubs throwing streamers and flairs??? Thanks for taking away the fun RSL FO.
Great work RSL! you guys played great and really gave us something to cheer about, as long as we were in our seats and not bothering the people around us… Lets show the world how America cheers on soccer!!!
It is nice to be on top, but remember we have played one more game (17 compared to 16) than the next 4 teams below us. LA and Chivas are only one point behind and have one more game to play to catch up to us. Colorado and Houston are only 3 points behind us and also have one more game to play than us. I think it makes it exciting and really gives our players some motivation because the West is such a tight race this year. Nobody is really pulling ahead so its making for some great soccer. Good job RSL!
Can we please have info about the BYU Reserve game on Tuesday. Some of us will have to get off work early to make it down there on time and will have to give advance notice.
It’s great to be able to stick it in the faces of the haters. I hope RSL can bring it on the road now, and really take control of the playoff race. Please, please, PLEASE can there be an experienced forward out there that we’re courting?
I’m not an RSL supporter but I thought y’alld be interested in knowing that RSL is the top headline over at FIFA.com. That’s pretty good exposure I would guess.
Extremely happy with the result. First place at any point in the season (other than maybe the first two or three matches) is an accomplishment, and one that this team has certainly earned. As much as I dislike Kreis as a coach, he’s starting to sway me. I respected his strong comments on the officiating last week (no idea if it’s made any difference, but he had to do it…if nothing else then out of respect for his players’ efforts on the field), and I respect his starting Tino and Yura (OK, maybe not Yura, but he didn’t have another option) this week. It was indeed a gamble, but I think it was what the Dr. and Robbie needed…not so much to motivate them to get back into the First XI, but rather to take some of that 90-minute psychological pressure off of them. Our back 4 are simply unbeatable right now. This group (Wingert included…I like he and Joy best, with Tony as support) may well be the best D-line in the entire league…they won’t get any nods to the All-Star team, save maybe Borchers (Olave would have, if he’d have started the whole season), but collectively there is not a more solid defense in MLS. Add a scoring boot (and some depth to handle our looming Olympic departures), and we may well be watching a playoff game in our new stadium come October!
Great game RSL! 1st place! It may not be the end of season standing, but it sure is a nice feeling after supporting the team through lackluster seasons year after year.
On another note, I hope the coach settles on keeping Robbie as a SUB. He seems to have better games when he gets fewer touches. Call it luck or whatever… Hey, Robbie, that was a great first touch (for a change) to take it away from the keeper and then well done to put it away! If he makes more quality touches like that he may DESERVE to start someday. Keep it up, Robbie!
Interesting to see kreis start with Movisisan and Nunez, it seemed to work, but also locked RSL into a pretty predictable substitution situation. Finley looks better coming late, his speed seems to have a better inpact. Deucher had some great chances and may be a bigger surprise to opposing defenders late in a game. I still think this team needs to be seeking some quality talent up front for the second half of the season. Defence on this team is really solid and Morales is the undeniable star of this franchise.
How does everyone feel now about the Santos result, after the much more meaningful result against Columbus? I stand by the club’s decision to use the Santos game as a warm-up. By the way, I’m feeling good about the Revs’ victory over Santos. RSL dominated the Revs a few weeks ago. I have to feel that our first 11 can play against Santos.
WTG RSL!!!!!
Like totally good! For sure.
it feels great very good game, good crowd as well.
great Job, Know lets go to Chicago and get some distances on first place

Totally, totally, awesome!
Long time coming, nice work RSL. I love how we don’t lose at home, I hope this lasts for the new stadium.

PERSEVERANCE
is not a long race: it’s many short races one after another,
therefore;
a little more persistance,
and
a little more effort
and
what seemed hopeless
may turn to glorious…
success~
Go RSL…………
“Never Never Never give up!”
