RSL v. Toronto FC – The Pre-game Thread
Well, now that THAT is out of the way we can all concentrate on the important things … like, you know, THE GAMES!!!
Such as the ones that will be a part of the third and final matchday at the 2010 Carolina Challenge Cup … which RSL (1-1-0, 3 pts) remains in the running to capture with a win over Toronto FC (0-1-1, 1 pt) and a Charleston Battery (0-1-1, 1 pt) upset over tourney-leading D.C. United (2-0-0, 6 pts).
Remember that you can watch the live streaming video feed, courtesy of our friends at TFC TV and the Battery, right here at Behind the Shield beginning right at 3:00 pm MT. Come for RSL, stay for United/Battery at approx. 5:30 pm, and linger until 7:30ish to see if the Claret-and-Cobalt will get their name etched on the CCC trophy for a second straight year. And if you can’t access the video, then it’s cool – just roll on over to RSL’s official Twitter feed (remember, you don’t have to be a “Twitterer” to follow along!) to hear about the events from Blackbaud Stadium as they unfold.
For more pre-game notes, including the RSL starting XI, take the jump.
- And RSL will give Kyle Reynish a go between the posts in place of intrepid traveler Nick Rimando … here’s the full starting XI:
- GK-Kyle Reynish; DF-Robbie Russell, DF-Jamison Olave, DF-David Horst, DF-Chris Wingert; MF-Kyle Beckerman, MF-Ned Grabavoy, MF-Will Johnson, MF-Javier Morales; FW-Robbie Findley, FW-Fabian Espindola
- We’ve been told you can also expect to see Misters Alvaro Saborio and Andy Williams to enter at the halftime break.
- TFC lineup: Frei; Attakora, Brennan, Garcia, Harden; DeGuzman, Saric, Cronin, Gala; DeRosario, White
- The CCC could come down to none other than … Tim Melia? The new RSL netminder will put in 45 minutes of action for the Battery in their nitecap against D.C., and with RSL needing the upset it’ll have one of its own helping to try and get the job done for the USL-2 side.
