A Real Warrior
Ok, that’s a terrible title and we know it, but, seriously, we didn’t have anything more clever… Anyway, some of you may have seen the video we’ve got below during the pregame festivities last Thursday, but if you didn’t (or you just really want to see it again) we thought we’d throw it up here. It’s a pretty cool video with some good stuff of el estadio and some fun bytes from RSL captain Kyle Beckerman. Check it out…

Kinda cheesy.
Let’s win on Saturday! Who’s with me?
Cheesy, but I liked it. It makes me sad that the Salt Lake Highlanders never came to be. It just would have been so fitting.
A win? I dunno. Doesn’t sound that great.
We better win on Saturday! We caught a break with Colorado losing. So we have to win for a playoff spot.
I AM! Go ReAL!
Man, Braveheart’s such a goddamned awesome movie.
Also, I think next time someone pulls Beckerman down like that he should run them through with a sword.
I love it. I think it is great to get people excited about the stadium and team. It’s good to hear from the captain.
Can you post the other video that was shown on Thursday showing highlights from the stadium construction and thanking the fans? That video brought a tear to my eye when it was shown.
I’m with you. We have to win.
awesome video! you know me! beckerman is awesome! i have never seen that movie but i will do that right away!
Let’s beat FC Dallas this weekend, and celebrate with this song:
RSL Anthem

If you really want to get the fans pumped up have Beckerman come out on Saturday with his face painted braveheart style and a scottish claymor! Then all the fans can start coming to games in dreadlock wigs and painted faces. Well that’s my dream anyway.
Sorry, but as a vet, comparing RSL’s play on the field to what our troops are going through in Afghanistan and Iraq does not honor them, but belittles their contributions and sacrifices.
SJSF, um how was anyone comparing the play of rsl to our soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq? unless i missed something, they were comparing it to Braveheart. I am not trying to belittle you or anything, I respect all vets. But being Scottish and a RSL fan I am proud to have them compared to each other, I love both. Also that RSL Anthem is ten times better then that meg and dia crap.
SJSF: I don’t think Beckerman’s comparing what he does to what soldiers do. It’s just an analogy. I don’t believe anyone’s trying to disrespect what you and other members of the armed forces have done.
Should have never involved Braveheart. Beckerman and his late pansy attacking and tackling shouldn’t be compared to a Scottish Hero. I bet Deuchar was embarrassed.
I agree with Ruffian, the last time Beckerman made a valuable contribution was in the first third of the season. He has given the opposing team position many times with his fantastic long balls that only a defender can get to.
my bad ‘possesion’!!
Lurpy: exactly what I am saying. It’s a bad analogy.
Let me clarify. I don’t want to make a really big deal of it, I just wanted to give my impression as I watched the video (as a combat vet and an avid soccer player/ fan):
Comparing playing a soccer game to a soldier going to war is over the top, and from my perspective, cheesy and almost embarrassing.
And I know it’s been said, that “soccer is not a matter of life and death, it’s more important than that” :-).
We WILL win. We WILL win.
There is no choice.
This is off topic, but I want to hear an update about Espindola. Will he be ready by the playoffs?
I think that video is great! It gets you charged up for the game. Hey Real why don’t you guys package a DVD of all of these video’s, and game highlights, and sell it as a 2008 season review? You could throw together all the Javi & Kyle show, Scot Lake City, and of course all of the film of the stadium construction. I’d buy one. Hopefully the team has their nerves calmed on Saturday night and can focus on the playoff race? I would really love to go into Colorado locked into the playoffs, beat them, take the cup, and keep them out of the playoffs again.
With Kyle’s, shall I call it a hair-do?, he reminds me a a Lion and with his attitude I think he truly fits that description.
I know he has spirit but I think all the guys have spirit. Look at the way Clint took 12 to the head and came back out the next game and played as hard as he could.
I could go on and on. Nick has been great this year.
Give yourselves a hand, guys, and good luck in Denver.
