Luis Gil Goes to South America with U.S. U-18′s
Real Salt Lake midfielder Luis Gil has departed the MLS squad once again to join up with one of US Soccer’s Youth National Teams, this time as a member of the U-18 side that will be in South American through next weekend (July 31, to be exact). The 16-year-old Gil is the only professional player on coach Mike Matkovich’s side that headed yesterday to Argentina, where the U.S. U-18s will play games against a local select side (July 26) and the Argentina U-18′s (July 27) before heading west for Chile, where they will take on their Chilean counterparts in Santiago (July 29) before heading back stateside. Sounds like a great experience for Luis. I would love to see him take the field a little bit for RSL when he gets back. I thought he looked great against Puntarenas.
hopefully he can get some good time on the pitch!! I’d like to see him develop. I’d also like to see farm system established in mls so more players have the chance to play and develop.
