The Real Salt Lake U-17 Team has made the final four of the annual SUM U-17 Cup for the third straight year thanks to their 2-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards this evening at Centennial Park in Houston. Goals from Richard Haddock and Cole Nagy would give Real Salt Lake the win in the 70-minute game and the top spot in Group D with 8 points, putting them three points clear of second-place New York. With the win, Real Salt Lake has now gone undefeated in 12 straight games in SUM Cup play dating back to the start of the 2008 tournament it captured.

Tonight’s result sets up a semifinal on Tuesday evening against the host Houston Dynamo at the Carl Lewis Track & Field Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston (5:30 pm MT OR 7:00 pm MT kick), while 2007 & ’09 titlist D.C. United and the Columbus Crew will face off in the other semifinal meeting. Tuesday’s victors will square off in the 2010 SUM U-17 Cup Championship on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. local / 8:00 a.m. MT at the home of the Dynamo, Robertson Stadium, with a spot in the prestigious Clubes de Mundial Sub-18 tournament in Madrid next spring on the line.
