U-S-A, U-S-A …

… is what you’ll be hearing come September 5 right here in Sandy as Rio Tinto Stadium is set to host the U.S. Men’s National Team in their 2010 World Cup Qualifying clash with El Salvador. The event will mark the second major soccer event of the summer at Rio Tinto Stadium — following the July 29 MLS All-Star Game — and the U.S. National Team’s first visit to the crown jewel of American mid-size sports and entertainment venues.
This is going to be a spectacular game and one you won’t want to miss. On that topic, it’s not too early to start thinking about your tickets. The best way to ensure your seat is to be a Real Salt Lake season ticket holder, as they will receive an exclusive window to purchase their seats for the match. If you’re not a season ticket holder already, what are you waiting for? Give our office a shout at 801.727.2700 and one of our excellent ticketing associates can get you lined up.
For anyone who was at the last World Cup Qualifier in Salt Lake, you know that the passion and atmosphere is unlike any other event you’ll find. We are certainly excited, it should be a great event and Sandy will provide a perfect stop on the road to South Africa 2010.
P.S. The hexagonal round of qualifying for the U.S. kicks off tomorrow night in Columbus as the Americans play host to arch-rival Mexico at 5:00 p.m. MT. The match will be televised live on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD. Tune in, it should be a good one…

This kicks major ass, considering that it is only two days after my birthday. Can anyone say 72 hours of tailgating madness on labor day weekend?
This is going to be a great match, now let’s hope we get to be one of the Gold Cup host cities.
Great announcement on making the All Star match part of the season ticket package, I was willing to buy one big match ticket but at least one needed to be included in my season ticket package.
EL SALVADOR NO SE SALVARA
RE: “Great announcement on making the All Star match part of the season ticket package, I was willing to buy one big match ticket but at least one needed to be included in my season ticket package.”
When and how were you notified that this is the case? I’m a season ticket holder and have heard no such thing (yet).
YES!!!!!!!!!!

Nice, should be a fun game. The last qualifier was one of the best matches I’ve ever been to, atmosphere wise.
Regarding season ticket holders and the all star match, the following was sent in the client experience newsletter on Feb 10:
“We are pleased to announce that the 2009 MLS All-Star game will be included in the 2009 Season Ticket Package. All Season Ticket Holders will receive their seat locations at no additional charge for that game. There will also be an exclusive, pre-sale opportunity for all Season Ticket Holders to purchase additional seats for that game as it is announced in the upcoming weeks.”

i am totally down for tailgaiting for a lonnnng time hahaha
that’ll be a ton of fun!
Regarding season tickets to the MLS All-Star Game, I copied this from the team’s website (it’s in the weekly update article, toward the bottom):

• First right of refusal for additional events taking place at Rio Tinto Stadium throughout 2009
• 25% off all merchandise purchased at the RSL Team Store at Rio Tinto Stadium
• A group rate for any additional tickets to RSL matches
• An invitation to the annual RSL Meet the Team event
• Access to a Personal Account Service Manager
• A free RSL gift (TBD)
As for the news about the USMNT coming to town, well, this is shaping up to be an excellent year for soccer in Utah! Where are all the stadium detractors now? First the MLS All-Star Game, now the US National Team!
Also, when do you think we’ll hear about the opposition for the All-Star game? Any rumors floating around about who it might be?
Way to go on getting the US National team back here! We won’t missing that game for anything!!!
SJSF, I received an email saying the All Star Games were part of the season tickets as well. It says:
“We are pleased to announce that the 2009 MLS All-Star game will be included in the 2009 Season Ticket Package. All Season Ticket Holders will receive their seat locations at no additional charge for that game. There will also be an exclusive, pre-sale opportunity for all Season Ticket Holders to purchase additional seats for that game as it is announced in the upcoming weeks. “
Sweet! I was already stoked for the All-Star Game, now there’s even more great soccer coming. Jusn, I’m with you- make them want to always play here!
Maybe they can get Real Madrid for the All-Star game, then they might actually show up.
I heard from my friend who heard from her friend (yeah, I know this is reliable when I start it that way) that as of now they are looking at InterMilan, Valencia, Real Madrid, and perhaps some German teams, but nothing definite.
I CANNOT wait for the season to start.
Thanks guys for the info. Don’t know why I didn’t receive it but glad it’s included.
Arsenal is my first and foremost european club. but being a swede it would be sweet if inter came and I could maybe get an auto from Ibrahimovic. Not to mention all the other greats, plus Jose Mourinho would be like 15 ft. from me. which would be kind of creepy i think. lol. I am also looking forward to meed Freddie Ljunberg this year with Seattle. I have a gunners shirt and swede shirt just waiting for him to sign. This year will be sick to def!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear you like Arsenal. Bring us Tottenham Hotspur!!! actually it wont happen but I can dream. I will take Inter just to talk trash to Jose!!!
Speaking of Jose haha anyone catch those I’m on Setanta Sports/Special 1 TV’s?? Hilarious! hahaha
No Tottenham or any other second rate club. Let’s at least get one that qualified for the CL last year or is going to qualify this year.
Second rate??? Yeah lets get a team that comes out and doesn’t care like most the teams the all stars play. Sounds fun to me. I would rather have a hard working “Second Rate” side come out and actually play or care to play.
I think the best team for the allstar game would be super terrific Korean team Chonbuk Motors!
any word when these tickets will be able to be bought by season ticket holders????
Congrats to the USMNT last night! Awesome victory!
As for the all star game, MLS needs to use Beckham’s contract to their advantage and get AC Milan to agree to play the all-star game as part of the transfer. I’d love to see Blanco outshine Beckham in another all star game.
tottenham? yeah, I’m sorry to you. Another year, more managers and another relegation battle. Just the kind of status everyone wants to see. Pete be real son. be real.
BRING ASTON VILLA! those guys are pure class, have some sweet jerseys, some fairly recognizable names, and US conncections… PLEASE BRING THE VILLANS!
Blanco outshine Beckham? Thats the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard. Before Blanco could ever outshine someone he would have to stand up straight. Or run. Or stay on his feet without tears in his eyes for more than a few minutes.nI’ve never seen him do any of those things. The old hunchback can barely jog.
swenny08 I am real father, I am real. So I guess a relegation battle just like last years All Star team? I believe west Ham in that battle this year? Spurs wont be relegated, they had a crap manager and are now starting to come through with ‘arry. The MLS can get those big squads, that would be great but I would rather see a team that is ready to battle than a team that comes here for a vacation. I agree with 15 to 32, Aston Villa would be a great team to come out. a couple of years ago people would have called them second rate, but look at them now. Ahead of the gooners!
