Just A few comments after the opening match.
Attack, Attack Attack.Send the ball into the middle.Don’t be afraid to shoot. Keep an eye out for the right side, it was open most of the first half(switch)..Play until the the final whistle.Don’t leave a World class player open, even if he was pathetic the previous 90 minutes. You were much better than last year. I finally saw some good one touch passing.Kill Chivas.
Frotto did it again! Ref Michael Kennedy gave in to the Galaxy and gave back one of our goals. That was a travesty (though on replay Fabian Espindola might have touched it; so maybe it was a good call).
Nevertheless, to add insult to injury (literally) is Fabian Espindola’s injury when the moron celebrates the goal that was taken back and breaks his ankle. Uggghhh! It would be almost funny if it was some other team- a player doing stupid back flips to a goal that is called back because he was offsides, and ends up breaking his ankle. I get so frustrated with these outrageous celebrations. If these guys really thought they were that good, then they should just wag their finger like Ronaldo, as if to say, “I score all the time, this is just the way I work.” Flips, somersaults, and running into the stands might be the way to go if you scored your first goal, but too much cockiness breaks your ankle. I don’t think their should be FIFA laws about excessive celebration, but I think the players need to think about it. In the case of Fabian Espindola, as the Bible says, “Pride goes before a fall.” Hey Fabian! Heal up soon . . . but stop the backflips.
So…. what’s with the site here lately? I jump straight to rsltothecore.com and all of the links on the right side are gone, unless I check out the responses to any of the 3 posts. And only 3 posts? What happened to the old ones?
At least this site is getting new info. rslstadium.com hasn’t had any new pictures since 8/29/08. Did construction on the new stadium stop? From the live webcam it looks like there are some chairs installed in the south end of the stadium. How about some pictures of those? Anything?
Anyone?
Bueller….
Having the same problem, thought it was my computer,
Hello to everyone out in the beautiful Salt Lake area – I was a big fan of your great 2002 Winter Olympics and now a Real fan down here in the New Orleans/Metairie area… of course, I DO have bit of a family connection – Jason’s wife, Kim, is my second cousin (my first cousin Susie’s second daughter)….
I was over across our own salt lake (Pontchartrain) at Susie’s home visiting Tuesday afternoon…..I hope to be able to travel to Salt Lake and attend some Real games, maybe next year…
Your stadium looks great – enjoyed the debut game on ESPN2……Good luck against Colorado this weekend!

Hey any new players coming on board for the 2009 season? What positions is RSL looking to strengthen? Cant wait to have a full season at the new stadium.
I was not sure where to ask this, but is there any update on the MLS all star game? I have heard rumors of many different teams, but is there a clear front runner?
As a soccer fan in general, and a new transplant to the greater Salt Lake area, I am glad to be in a city with a rich soccer history and an up and coming MLS team. I will follow and support RSL throughout the season. I do have to admit, though, that I am from Seattle and therefore a fan of the new Seattle Sounders FC franchise.
While watching the Sounder/RSL game (televised in the Salt Lake area) I was suprised by the large group of RSL fans in the QWEST Field stadium.
I would like to find any Sounder FC fans located in this area that msy be attending the game when Seattle visits RSL at Rio Tinto on Aug. 8th. Please send a message to d_m_hunt@comcast.net if there is anyone out there that would like to a have Sounder FC rooting section.
Dude! Javi & Kyle! You are the best! I laugh my head off. Nice cover on Mullets and Mustaches.
“Business in front, Party in the back” I’m setting that as my Facebook status. Keep it up!
Jason and team ~
Thanks so much for being so down to earth in Houston.
Our boys LOVED meeting all of you. They haven’t stopped talking about the experience and their friends are SOOOOO jealous!
GREAT game…. doubt some of those calls, but you guys did a fabulous job.
Ordering RSL jerseys now
Good luck!!
Ok so here’s how it has to play out.
1. Colorado MUST lose @ FC Dallas. If they win next Saturday then RSL is out. If they don’t win, RSL just needs to beat Colorado, NY and draw on the road.
2. D.C. United can not win both of their 2 last …games.
3. Toronto can not win all of their their last games. (3)
Basically all 4 teams are fighting for 1 spot. It’s going to be a fun end to the regular season.
Congratulations from this Houston Dynamo supporter!!! If it could not be our guys at the end I am glad it was RSL. And you put it to LA. Sweet. There are alot of others that feel this way too. You can see by the comments on Glen Davis’ blog at chron.com (sports section, soccer/Dynamo) Enjoy the rush of winning. See you next season.
